Just 200 yards from our front door, Beatrix curates the character of our interiors at Perfect English. Her hand-picked products are used throughout the Cavendish Arms, from the bespoke ceramics on our tables to the linens in our guest rooms. With an eye for timeless quality and local charm, Beatrix’s dedication to fine craftsmanship ensures that every corner of the inn carries the authentic, elegant feel of our village.

Will, the owner of Black Dog Landscapes, is the creative force behind the natural beauty found throughout The Cavendish Arms. Driven by a commitment to locally sourced and sustainable practices, Will provides a seasonal supply of fresh foliage and bracken for our displays. By recycling and repurposing these natural elements, we reduce waste while adding a unique, rustic charm to the ambiance that greets every guest.

Village Historian

Colin is Cartmel’s living memory. As the author of ‘Cartmel’s Hidden Past’, he has dedicated decades to preserving the stories woven into every cobblestone and ancient beam of our village. Through his books Colin is able to preserve stories of Cartmel, its people and buildings, and help visitors and local residents to understand the journey of its past.

Cartmel Valley Game Supplies & Smokehouse is based in the village and is run by Jonathan, Susan & Georgina Stott, who they work closely with their team of highly qualified and dedicated staff. John, who is locally known as Stotty, established their business in 1994, processing and providing high quality, free range and locally sourced game and home smoked products.

Ian believes great cheese begins with genuine care. Every cheese in the shop is carefully chosen from small-scale artisan makers, and we taste each one ourselves before it reaches the counter. We mature our cheeses on site in temperature-controlled rooms, giving every wheel and wedge the attention it deserves. From seasonal award-winners to new discoveries, everything we stock is selected because we truly love it.
